It’s Time to Move Away from the Opioid Rx

It’s Time to Move Away from the Opioid Rx

Does Bioelectronic Medicine Work for Chronic Pain?

Opioid prescriptions don’t provide effective relief from chronic pain and they tend to increase the potential for dangerous, even deadly, consequences in patients, says a new study in the December issue of Current Oncology Reports.

Palliative care researchers looked at opioid therapy and determined that it has the potential to interfere with your body’s natural ability to fight and resolve pain. The study determined that for some “it actually has the potential of extending the history of their pain.”

Some of the chief risks that opioids increase for people who suffer chronic pain include:

• central hypogonadism,
• cognitive impairment,
• depression,
• falls and subsequent fractures,
• greater risk of infections,
• impaired wound healing,
• the risk of addiction,
• sleep-disordered breathing, and
• death.

“In addressing the opioid epidemic in our society, we should be putting our efforts into developing more chronic pain rehabilitation programs versus making opioid packaging tamper-resistant to prevent the crushing, snorting, and injecting of prescribed narcotics,” said study author Dr. Mellar P. Davis.

“Opioids are not the answer.”

We couldn’t agree more. The approach to health and wellness should rely on natural ingredients and our body’s own ability to resolve pain and other concerns. We’re an amazing product of evolution and natural progression, and the research suggests that opioids only serve to get in the way.

So, what’s next for chronic pain management?

Addressing Chronic Pain with Bioelectronic Medicine

Pain management can be very tricky, especially when it comes to chronic pain from arthritis, accidents, sciatica and back pain, fibromyalgia, and many different diseases. As we discover that opioids are not safe and have significant risks for dependency and abuse, it’s time to turn to another source for palliative care.

We believe that electrical stimulation through electrotherapy machines represents the safest way to provide long-term pain relief. Unlike opioids, electrotherapy and bioelectronics actually use and boost your body’s natural ability to resolve pain.

You see, pain signals are interrupted through electrical stimulation, which feels like a small tickle, and that interruption helps your body process pain signals and can lead to a reduction in those signals. This wellness program can help you fight that pain while avoiding the negative side effects common in many of today’s drugs.

We’ve designed the WellnessPro, an FDA-cleared medical device, to deliver a gentle electrical stimulation to disrupt pain signals and provide some help for a variety of specific conditions. By adjusting frequency, intensity, and wavelengths, you’re able to adjust the device to meet a wide range of specific conditions.
